Seems these days I am doing my blogging past the midnight hour but that’s about to change. Well, for the next 2 days anyway.
I just finished a marathon of 6 days/5 closes at my day job. Basically I leave the house at around 12pm and return at 12am. Lucky me, eh? Now though, I have 2 days off and then it’s back to it with 5 more closes in a row. These are a rarity or so I am told. It’s just the way the schedule worked itself out. Blah, blah, blah…whatever.
It’s all good!
So what am I going to do for the next 2 days? Well shit, what ain’t I gonna do? I have Episode #09 of The Zombie Chronicles to record, edit and upload to my site and to Podiobooks.com tomorrow. That’s about a full 8 or 9 hours right there. I have to buy a case for my fancy new iTouch, clean the house, do laundry, visit the various bookstores around town, catch up on some reading AND do some writing of course. These past few days it’s been sliding a bit. This morning I managed to crank out just under 1000 words in 20 minutes, so I was pretty happy with that. I need a couple of solid sessions over the next two days though to make up for any ground that may have been lost.
It ain’t easy being me, but it sure is fun.
I don’t mind working to pay the bills but let’s be honest with one another:
Writing is the real work and by work I mean fun. It recharges my batteries and is pretty much the only way I got through these past 6 days. It’s an adrenaline rush, a boost, my drug. When I’m feeling down, a quick session like this morning is all the fix I need to lift my spirits. Even if I go back and realize that what I scribbled out was complete shit, I don’t care. I sat down and I did it, that’s the main thing.
I’m a writer.
It’s what I do and it’s fun.
What are you?
